The Afghanistan Cricket Board has agreed to release Inzamamul Haq on the personal request of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief.
In an exclusively interview with local news channel ‘Samaa Tv’, ACB’s CEO Shafiqullah Stanikzai said that the cricket board has decided to release Inzamam in the interest of Pakistan.
Shafiqullah Stanikzai also said the PCB Chairman Shaharyar Khan had requested the Afghan board to release the former Pakistani Test player.
He appreciated the role of Inzamamul Haq as the coach of the Afghan cricket team.
Sources said that Inzamam will be empowered to select remaining members of the selection committee. A formal announcement in this regard is expected soon.
Meanwhile, former Pakistan head coach Waqar Younis welcomed the reports that his former teammate is being considered for the post of chief selector.
