British authorities have charged three men in connection with serious and targeted violent incidents at the homes of Adil Raja and Shahzad Akbar, police confirmed.
The Metropolitan Police said detectives from Counter Terrorism Policing London are leading the investigation due to the deliberate and targeted nature of the attacks.
The Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges against three British citizens, Karl Blackbird (39) of Bedworth, Clark McAulay (38) of Coventry, and Doneto Brammer (21) of Wood Green, London.
Prosecutors charged Blackbird and McAulay with conspiracy to assault and cause bodily harm in relation to an incident at Raja’s home in Chesham on December 24, 2025.
Brammer faces multiple charges linked to an incident at Akbar’s residence in Cambridge on December 31, 2025, including possession of a prohibited weapon, conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life, and conspiracy to commit arson with reckless disregard for life.

Police said Akbar was assaulted outside his Cambridge home on December 24, 2025. Days later, on December 31, suspects returned to the unoccupied property while Akbar was away with his family. Investigators believe one suspect used a firearm to break a window and attempted to throw a burning rag inside. The device failed to ignite, causing no further damage.
Officers stressed that investigators continue to examine possible links between all incidents. Police said they remain open to all potential motives and have not ruled out wider connections.
On January 5, police arrested a 34-year-old man in Great Dunmow in connection with the Cambridge attack. Authorities later released him on bail pending further inquiries until April.
On January 21, police arrested four men and one woman across the West Midlands, Warwickshire, and London. Officers carried out the arrests with support from regional police units and Counter Terrorism Policing West Midlands.
Those arrests included:
- A 40-year-old man in Warwickshire is under suspicion of conspiracy to assault, linked to Raja’s case
- A 39-year-old man in Coventry is on similar charges
- A 30-year-old man in Birmingham is linked to the Cambridge assault
- A 21-year-old man in north London on suspicion of arson conspiracy and firearms offences
- A 40-year-old woman in north London on suspicion of firearm possession
Police have since charged three suspects and released two on bail. Officers arrested a sixth suspect on January 23 in Warwickshire on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to assault. He remains in custody at a London police station.
Following the arrests, police searched multiple addresses in Birmingham, Coventry, Warwickshire, and London as part of the ongoing investigation. In a statement, Raja welcomed the charges and confirmed his cooperation with authorities. He said the incidents highlighted serious security risks and thanked investigators for their work.
