Controversial YouTuber Adil Raja faced another defeat at the London High Court in the defamation case filed by retired Brigadier Rashid Nasir.
The court dismissed Raja’s request to pay only £35 monthly towards the £10,000 he was ordered to pay Nasir two months prior, where Raja lost on all counts.
Additionally, the court imposed an extra £3,000 in costs on Raja, bringing his total debt to Nasir to £13,000. The High Court further decided that Raja cannot reclaim any legal fees from Nasir, who has consistently won at all stages of the defamation case.
Represented by Mahtab Anwar Aziz of Central Chambers Law Solicitors, Raja was previously ordered by Deputy High Court Judge Mr. Richard Spearman KC to make payments totalling £10,000 for previous failed legal challenges. This included a rejected application to stay the defamation trial and a failed security-for-cost application.
The court also ruled that 9 out of 10 publications by Raja were legally defamatory towards Nasir, stating these publications contained factual accusations, not mere opinions. These accusations included alleged election tampering discussions with Asif Ali Zardari, misuse of power, and involvement in political interference—all without evidence.
Raja’s claims also extended to accusations of manipulating the Lahore High Court, rigging elections, and misusing police authority for personal gain. His defamation campaign began with posts on June 14, 2022, across various social media platforms. The retired brigadier’s UK lawyers officially filed the case on August 11, 2022. Raja has resided in the UK since April 2022.
