The renowned Pakistani actor Qavi Khan passed away in Canada, where he was receiving medical treatment.
The president of the Arts Council of Karachi, Muhammad Ahmad Shah, revealed late on Sunday that actor Qavi Khan, 80, passed away in Canada. “Recently, Qavi has been ill,” Shah stated. He prayed that God would provide the departed soul eternal peace and grant the mourning family the ability to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
In a tribute to the late actor’s skill and ability, Shah called him a “great actor who left an indelible mark on the entertainment world.”
Peshawar-born Khan’s performance as Ghalib at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) and his role in the PTV drama Koi Na Adda Sanj Mili attest to the longevity of his career. In addition to television and the stage, he consistently showed his artistic skills in film and radio.
Qavi began his career at Radio Pakistan Peshawar at an early age. From there, he achieved television fame and moved to Pakistan. Beginning his career in 1964 with PTV and Lollywood films, he was one of the few performers who personally observed the decline of the film industry.
Khan received the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, PTV Lifetime Achievement, and Radio Pakistan Lifetime Achievement awards.
Adnan Qavi, the son of the famed actor, stated that the time and other specifics of his father’s funeral prayer would be announced in the future.
The dynamic actor awarded the President’s Award for Pride in Performance, appeared in about 200 films. He also appeared in countless hit television series, radio, and theater productions.
