Chief of Tehreek Tahaffuz-e-Aiyeen Pakistan (TTAP) Mahmood Khan Achakzai has proposed the formation of a national government for a period of four months to conduct transparent general elections. After this, power should be transferred to the party that secures a public mandate.
Speaking to media representatives after meeting Ayaz Latif Palijo, head of the Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT), at his residence in Hyderabad on Saturday, Achakzai said the current rulers lack the capacity to govern effectively. Furthermore, he called for a three-day roundtable conference involving all political stakeholders. The goal would be to chart a path toward political stability and constitutional order.
The delegation included former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas. Achakzai proposed that the interim national government should comprise representatives from five major political parties. He said TTAP was formed to resist what he described as repeated attacks on the Constitution. In addition, he added that opposition concerns had now proven justified.
The TTAP chief, who also serves as chairman of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, stressed that Pakistan can only move forward if parliamentary supremacy is restored. He also emphasized that all provinces and nationalities must receive their constitutional rights. Referring to Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Achakzai recalled Jinnah’s remark about “counterfeit coins” within the system. Because of this, he said a renewed political movement was now needed to eliminate such practices.

He said Pakistan is a federation of nations. It can function smoothly only when all its nationalities enjoy equal rights and a fair share in governance.
Earlier, QAT chief Ayaz Latif Palijo thanked the TTAP delegation for visiting Hyderabad. He said his party had previously participated in alliances such as the MRD. In addition, the current alliance was formed to restore democracy through sustained political struggle. Palijo criticised the 26th Constitutional Amendment and alleged that it imposed restrictions on the judiciary. He also described the Peca Act as a curtailment of press freedom. Moreover, he claimed Sindh’s share in the NFC Award and development budgets had been reduced. Because of this, he said the province was under constant pressure.
Allama Raja Nasir Abbas said ordinary citizens always bear the brunt during national crises. He alleged that innocent people, including women leaders such as Yasmin Rashid, were imprisoned. Meanwhile, PTI founder Imran Khan remained incarcerated in what he described as politically motivated cases. He demanded immediate elections, restoration of the Constitution, and the establishment of a democratic government.
What happened on Feb 8? What was the need for it? Has it ever happened anywhere in the world that a country supports a political party, its election symbol is taken away, the people are intimidated, bought off, and all kinds of pressure tactics are used? Asad Qaiser said the country was being run in violation of constitutional norms and alleged that key institutions had been compromised. Additionally, he criticised the Sindh government over poor infrastructure, lack of clean drinking water, and deteriorating roads. He also alleged that the public mandate was undermined through Form-47. For this reason, he urged citizens to support protests and a strike planned for February 8.
The political leaders agreed that the restoration of genuine democracy and constitutional rule has become essential for the country’s survival. As part of events marking the 122nd birth anniversary of G M Syed, a TTAP delegation attended a gathering in Sann. At this gathering, leaders appealed to participants to support and join the February 8 strike.
