Reports circulating on social media about the death of Abida Parveen are false and unfounded, her family has confirmed.
Abida Parveen’s daughter has strongly denied the claims, stating that her mother is healthy and doing well. She explained that the confusion arose after another woman, also named Abida Parveen, passed away on Thursday in Lahore’s Dilgaran Chowk area. That unrelated incident appears to have triggered the misinformation.
“All of these reports are completely false,” she said. “By spreading incorrect news about my mother’s passing, people are misleading her fans.”
She urged the public to rely only on verified and credible sources and to avoid sharing unconfirmed information online. Family members also appealed to the media and social media users to respect the privacy of the artist and her loved ones.
The false reports caused concern among Abida Parveen’s admirers in Pakistan and abroad, given her immense cultural stature. Widely regarded as one of Pakistan’s greatest and most influential singers, she enjoys a global following for her contributions to Sufi and classical music.
The family has reassured fans that Abida Parveen is safe and in good health and has requested that everyone refrain from spreading rumours or speculation.
