The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named Aaqib Javed the interim head coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Aaqib will continue as a senior member of the National Selection Committee while undertaking his new responsibilities.
Following the eight-team tournament, PCB plans to appoint a permanent white-ball head coach. Recruitment is expected to conclude by the end of the Champions Trophy, scheduled from February 19 to March 9.
The need for a new white-ball coach came after Gary Kirsten’s resignation. Jason Gillespie, the red-ball head coach, assumed temporary leadership during Pakistan’s recent tour of Australia and will lead the upcoming two-Test series in South Africa.
