In an intelligence-based operation (IBO), law enforcement agencies in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Kurram Agency on Monday killed a terrorist who was wanted in the murder of Naveed Sadiq and Nasir Hussain, the director and inspector of Inter-Services Intelligence’s (ISI) Counter-Terrorism Wing.
After killing two ISI officials on January 3, the terrorist, identified as Umar Niazi, remained at large.
Following an exchange of gunfire, security personnel apprehended the severely wounded terrorist. Niazi eventually succumbed to his injuries. However, intelligence agencies apprehended the terrorist before he could enter Afghanistan.
ISI officials Sadiq and Hussain were martyred by a terrorist earlier this month while he was on a mission to dismantle the network of a banned organization operating in Afghanistan.
Sahabzada Shahzada Sultan, Additional Inspector General of Police for South Punjab, stated that the perpetrators were on a motorcycle.
Both officials were awarded the Hilal-e-Shujaat and Tamgha-e-Shujaat posthumously.
Sadiq, who oversaw the ISI’s CTD division, was awarded the Sitara-e-Shujaat on March 23, 2021, for his valor and bravery against anti-national elements.
In 2002, he joined the police force as a subinspector. In 2009, after taking a rigorous examination, he was appointed assistant director of the ISI, the premier intelligence agency.
During his tenure, the espionage agency agent exposed key networks of prohibited organizations. After months of effort, he was granted access to the Daesh high command. He neutralized the terrorists after discovering their ambush location in Faisalabad during a raid.
