Islamabad: Flood warning has been issued in River Chitral as the water level is increasing continuously after heavy rain on Tuesday night, while Indus is in high flood at Chashma, Guddur and Sukkur barrages on Wednesday.

The Chitral river has overflowed once again after 28 years due to which camp and connected areas have been evacuated. The people are migrating from Moleen Gol to Chagor. The areas of Mostaj Abad, Faiz Abad, Moladh, Panji Kothi and Sabzi Mandi are feared to get affected from flood. All the areas having a population of five to six thousand have been emptied by the Pakistan Army.

Besides this the headquarters of Chitral scouts have also been vacated whereas the young men have been moved to safe location. Reportedly, three people have died and Chitral scouts headquarter has also been damaged partially. River Indus is in high flood at Chashma, Guddu and Sukkur, in medium flood at Kalabagh and Taunsa and in low flood at Tarbela.

The Flood Forecasting Division of Met Department in Lahore said on Wednesday that the River Kabul is in medium flood at Nowshera while both River Jhelum and River Ravi are in low flood at Mangla and Sadhnai respectively. All other rivers and nullahs are flowing normally at present. According to Flood Warning Center Peshawar, River Indus at Khairabad, River Kabul at Warsak and Nowshera and River Adezai at Adezai Bridge were in medium flood on Wednesday morning.

River Panjkora at Dir, River Khiali and River Naguman near Charsadda Road and River Shah Alam at Takhtabad are in low flood. Meanwhile Pakistan Army has taken control of sensitive protective embankments owing to rising flood situation in Indus River. According to details, high flood will pass during next 24 hours at Layyah which will further devastate flood-hit Muzaffargarh, Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.

Katcha areas of Kashmore, Ghotki and Larkana have been inundated and the flood water is hitting the dykes. As many as 46 protective dykes have been declared most sensitive for the expected floods. The PDMA has warned the inhabitants of Katcha areas to move to safer places immediately after the Met had forecast heavy rains in the province.

Pak Army started patrolling at sensitive embankments of districts in province, while Katcha areas at Guddu, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Larkana, Sukkur and Khairpur districts gradually started shifting their families to safer places.
