Sialkot: Unprovoked firing and shelling by Indian border forces killed three Pakistanis and injured five others at Sialkot working boundary.
According to officials, the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) resorted to heavy firing and shelling on a border village, Salehpur, located near Chapral Sector of the Sialkot Working Boundary at wee hours of Thursday.
As a result, reports said, three civilians were martyred while five others, including two women, were critically injured. They were shifted to local hospitals.
The Indian BSF targeted the civilian population there and also fired several heavy mortar shells, senior officials said, adding that the early morning attack prompted villagers to evacuate the area.
The Punjab Rangers gave proportionate and calibrated response, making the Indian guns silent.
The incident came a day after Pakistani troops shot down an Indian spy drone which intruded into Pakistan along LOC near Bhimber town of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The spy drone is used for aerial photography.
