Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court Orders Investigation Report and Jails PTI Women Workers

The Special Anti-Terrorism Court in Lahore has mandated the police to provide an investigation report regarding the attack on the Corps Commander House, simultaneously remanding 13 women workers of PTI, including Khadijah Shah, to jail.

In a written order, Judge Abhar Gul of the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Lahore has directed 13 women, including the prime suspect and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporter Khadija Shah, who are implicated in the May 9 Jinnah House attack, to a 14-day judicial remand. The ruling was handed down during a case hearing by ATC Judge Abhar Gul Khan.

The accused women, Shah and Sanam Javed were brought before the court by the police, who sought an extension in their remand to recover petrol bombs and stolen items. The court, however, declined to extend the physical remand and instructed the woman to be held in judicial custody instead.

Judge Gul mandated the investigating officer to finalize the probe by June 22 and present the findings to the court.

Despite the request from the investigating officer for a 20-day physical remand of the suspects for additional recovery, the court’s written order only grants five days, which had already been utilized for recovery from the suspects.

Additionally, the ATC extended the judicial remand of PTI Central Punjab President Dr. Yasmin Rashid, who is charged with inciting violence through her speeches. The former governor of Punjab, Umar Sarfraz Cheema, also saw his judicial remand in the Askari Tower case extended.
