In a major counterterrorism action, the Bannu IBO five terrorists killed operation concluded with the elimination of five militants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bannu district, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Security forces launched the intelligence-based operation after receiving reports about the presence of militants linked to Fitna al-Khwarij, including a suspected suicide bomber.
During the operation, troops located the militants and engaged them in an intense exchange of fire. As a result, five terrorists were killed.
However, in what ISPR described as a desperate act, militants rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into one of the vehicles in the leading convoy.
The attack led to the martyrdom of Lt. Col. Shahzada Gul Faraz, 43, a resident of District Mansehra. He was commanding the operation and leading his troops from the front.
Sepoy Karamat Shah, 28, a resident of District Peshawar, also embraced martyrdom during the incident.
ISPR stated that the operation was carried out on the basis of credible intelligence. The military’s media wing emphasised that security forces acted swiftly to neutralise the threat in the area.
Authorities continue to monitor the security situation in Bannu and the surrounding districts.
