Twenty-eight Years Later, the third chapter in Danny Boyle’s horror saga, will hit theatres on June 20, 2025, launching a new trilogy.
Directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland, 28 Years Later follows Spike, a young boy (Alfie Williams), and his mother Isla (Jodie Comer) as they venture from a safe island to Britain’s mainland, overrun by evolved Rage Virus-infected. Playing a doctor, Ralph Fiennes described the journey through “beautiful northern English terrain”, hiding infected, per The Hollywood Reporter. Set 28 years after the events of 28 Days Later (2002), the film examines long-term societal collapse and returns to the survivalist tone of the original, unlike 28 Weeks Later, which focused on government response.
