Seventeen people died in separate road crashes in Pakistan, underscoring the country’s ongoing challenges with road safety.
In the last 24 hours, authorities reported 2,360 traffic accidents across Punjab. These incidents resulted in at least 17 fatalities and 3,094 injuries.
Rescue teams quickly responded throughout the province, transporting 1,559 injured individuals to hospitals for treatment. Meanwhile, medical teams provided care for 1,535 people with minor injuries at the scene. The high number of cases highlights the significant strain on emergency services.
Data shows that nearly 80% of the accidents involved motorcycles. This trend continues to raise concerns about road safety awareness and enforcement.
Among those affected were 1,484 adult drivers and 150 underage drivers. The crashes also impacted 258 pedestrians and 1,369 passengers. These figures underline the widespread impact of traffic incidents across different groups.
Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan Report Highest Cases
Lahore recorded the highest number of accidents. The city reported 346 crashes, resulting in 495 injuries.
Faisalabad followed with 137 incidents and 169 injured individuals. Multan reported 132 accidents affecting 162 people. The data highlights how major urban centres continue to face the highest traffic risks.
Recent statistics reveal a persistent road safety crisis in Pakistan. Frequent accidents, especially those involving motorcycles, place a significant burden on healthcare and emergency services. Authorities and safety experts have repeatedly stressed the importance of stronger enforcement and greater public awareness to reduce the number of accidents.
