At 104 years old, Dorothy Hoffner from Chicago defies conventional age limitations.
Dorothy’s journey, rooted in Chicago, captures widespread admiration as she aims to become the oldest skydiver ever. Last Sunday at Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, Illinois, she chose skydiving over her usual walker.
Her successful landing was met with rapturous applause, underscoring her motto: “Age is just a number.” Having first skydived at 100, Dorothy’s enthusiasm remains undiminished. Accompanied by her instructor, she boarded the aircraft with a spirited “Onwards and upwards, Geronimo!”
Dorothy’s remarkable jump, starting at 13,500 feet, featured an expert forward roll mid-air. Skydive Chicago is now seeking Guinness World Records recognition for her incredible feat.
The current record is held by Linnéa Ingegärd Larsson of Sweden, who skydived at 103 in May 2022. Dorothy’s latest endeavour could potentially reset this benchmark.
However, for Dorothy, the sky is not the final frontier. As she approaches her 105th birthday in December, she’s planning a hot air balloon ride. “It’s an experience I’ve yet to enjoy,” she said, beaming excitedly.
