Pakistani bowler Sohail Khan has been injured during warm-up match against Bangladesh, in yet another blow to the Green Shirts ahead of World Cup.
Sohail Khan injured his calf during the match in which he bowled eight overs and took one wicket.
PCB spokesman says the player’s injury “is not of serious nature”, adding that team physiotherapist has advised rest for Sohail Khan and hoped for his early recovery.
Meanwhile another frontline bowler, Muhammad Irfan, is reported to be unfit.
Sources said the paceman did not take part in Sunday’s practice session. However, the team management claims that he is taking rest ahead of Pakistan’s big clash with arch-rival India.
Pakistan is already without almost all of its front line bowlers.
On Sunday, opener Mohammad Hafeez was ruled out of the World Cup after suffering an ankle injury he had during the second one-day international against New Zealand in Napier last week.
Hafeez has been advised to take three weeks’ rest as Nasir Jamshed was summoned to replace him.
The latest injury is the fourth major blow for Pakistan before the 14-team World Cup which starts in Australia and New Zealand on February 14.
Paceman Umar Gul was not selected because of a knee injury in January, while another fast bowler Junaid Khan had to be withdrawn from the 15-man squad after he failed to recover from a leg injury.
Spinner Saeed Ajmal withdrew from the squad after he failed to correct his bowling action which was deemed illegal last September, although the International Cricket Council said Saturday he had been cleared after retesting.
Pakistan play their first match against India in Adelaide on February 15.
