A local Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) received application seeking issuance of ‘black warrants’ for death row convict
Mirza was sentenced to death by an anti-terrorism court in May 1999 for a triple homicide.
He was convicted for killing Managing Director of Karachi Electric Supply Corporation –now K-Electric– Shahid Hamid, his driver Ashraf Brohi, and security guard Khan Akbar in a July 1997 shooting.
In April 2014, he was transferred to Machh Jail, Balochistan, along with four high-profile prisoners.
His mercy plea was rejected by Sindh High Court (SHC) and Supreme Court.
ATC No.5 has received an application from the jail superintendent seeking death warrants for execution of the convict.
However, time and date for the execution will be decided by the ATC. Saulat Mirza would be shifted to Karachi eventually.
