President of the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) Prof Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi has taken back his resignation as the head of the association on the request of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar Khan.
Prof Faruqi, who is also a member of the PCB Governing Board, tendered his resignation after the PCB refused to give direct entry to two Karachi teams in the National Twenty20 Cup.
“I cannot refuse the request of legendary person like Shaharyar Khan, who is also our elder,” Faruqi told APP.
The PCB chief in a recent function here lauded the services of Prof Faruqi and requested him to withdraw his resignation.
However, Prof Faruqi said he would keep protecting the rights of Karachi players and continue promoting cricket and working for upliftment of the game in Karachi.
“By resigning I tried to save an institution,” he said.
