Pakistan’s Street Children Football team – with second victory in the KICS Cup being played in the US state of Chicago – is likely to qualify for the final of the tournament.
The team has so far played three matches in the tournament being held from July 21-26. On Thursday, the Greens beat RB United, a football club of Chicago. This is the first time that any team is representing Pakistan in the KICS Cup in Chicago.
This year, 200 teams of young girls and boys from the US and all over the world are participating. Around 15 international teams from 12 countries would take part in this multinational and multicultural event.
The young team representing Pakistan consists of children who had been dwelling on the streets in Pakistan and they had finished as second runners up during the Street children football World Cup back in 2014 in Brazil.
A large number of Pakistanis are turning out to the fields to support their team besides the presence of Consul General Faisal Niaz Tirmizi at all games to encourage the players.
The players and officials of the team while thanking for the support and hospitality being extended by the consulate and members of Pakistani community, assured their best efforts for a victories finish. (APP)
