Pakistani Muslims would celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr tomorrow (Saturday) July 18, 2015 as Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Friday evening not only spotted it on the horizon but also received credible (eyewitness) testimonies of sighting the crescent, which marks the start of Shawwal.

Chaired by Mufti Muneebur Rehman, the body of clerics, which is tasked with the officiation of the beginning of lunar Islamic months by sighting of the moons, assembled in the federal capital to catch a glimpse of the new moon.

The committee chief, in an official statement issued here, said that moon-sighting body has received multiple testimonies confirming the crescent has been sighted across Pakistan, thus Shawwal 1, 1436 AH will fall on Saturday, July 18, 2015.

Moreover, Muslims in India and Bangladesh will also observe Eid ul Fitr on Saturday.

The Shahi Imam of Jama Masjid Dehli Friday declared that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Saturday across India, as the moon was sighted in Hyderabad, Bihar, Manipur and Tamil Nadu, according to Indian media.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh’s National Moon Sighting Committee took the decision at a meeting at the Islamic Foundation’s Baitul Mukarram office this evening after reviewing information of the sighting of the Shawwal moon.

At a post-meeting briefing, Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman told reporters that Eid-ul-Fitre will be celebrated across the country on Saturday as the Shawwal moon was sighted at least in Joypurhat in the evening.

Muslims in other nations such as Saudi Arabia, UK and the US, celebrate Eid on Friday.
