The nation will celebrate Eid-ul Azha with its usual fervour today to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).

The day will dawn with special prayers in mosques for the peace, progress and well-being of the Ummah and Pakistan.

Eid congregations will be held at Masajid, Imambargahs, Eidgahs, and open places in cities, towns, and villages across the country.

In the Federal Capital, the main Eid congregation will be held at the Faisal Mosque. After offering the Eid prayers, the faithful will sacrifice animals.

Federal and provincial governments have chalked out elaborate security plans.

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) police have devised a comprehensive security plan to guard worship places and effective patrolling in various part of the city during Eid holidays.

More than 3500 policemen will perform security duties at 824 places, including 796 mosques, 21 Imambargahs and seven open places.

The bomb disposal squad will conduct checking of various areas and parking will not be allowed near worship places or congregations.
