Karachi: A spokesman for the Sindh chief minister on Wednesday clarified that senior police officer Ghulam Haider Jamali has not been removed as the Inspector-General of the Sindh Police.

Ghulam Haider Jamali is performing his duties well and will continue to act as the Sindh police chief, said the spokesman shortly after sources in the CM House reported that a decision has been made to remove Jamali from his position.

The development comes hours after gunmen killed at least 45 members of the minority Ismaili community in Karachi.

Around six gunmen riding three motorbikes targeted the bus in a deserted area of the city’s outskirts, killing 45 people in the latest attack on members of a minority community.

Earlier today, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah suspended the Deputy Superintendent (DSP) and Station House Officer (SHO) of Safoora Goth area where the attack took place.
