A 22-year old handicapped was woman sexually assaulted at PIMS hospital in Islamabad.
According to initial information, a resident of Swabi district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) hospital Islamabad when the event unfolded.
According to her parents, Krishan Kumar, a male nurse on duty, attacked her on Saturday night. As soon as the parents found out, they informed the hospital administration in a written complaint.
PIMS vice chancellor,Dr Javed Akram, while talking to local news channel “Samaa Tv’ said “Following initial investigation, we learned that she was not raped and that it went as far as an attempt to rape,”
Parents alleged that, PIMS administration did not take immediate action against culprits, who managed to escape the scene and remained at large until the filing of this report.
He said Kumar has been fired; an FIR has been registered against him in Margalla police station and further investigation is underway.
Akram also said changes will be made in the hospital’s policies. “From now onwards, only female staff will attend female patients,” he said.
