Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Saturday disclosed appointment of several ghost employees in the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) who were receiving salaries sitting at home.
In a press conference on Saturday Director General FIA, Shahid Hayat revealed the details said that FIA has arrested nine employees of KMC education department have been taken into custody who has disclosed serious irregularities.
Hayat presented Deputy Director of KMC Admin Education Salim Khan before the media whose 21 ghost members of family in including 64-year old mother-in-law were on the payroll of the KMC, while only two of them were genuinely working.

Khan revealed that the amount earned through corruption was relayed to senior officials.
Khan further added that “It was our duty to collect monthly income from different towns and submit to Director Education Mansoor Mirza who then used to divide the money among high ranking officials,”
DG FIA also briefed media that KMC’s total monthly payroll is Rs. 500 million out of which millions of rupees are being paid to the ghost employees.
Shahid Hayat said that FIA is also investigating senior officials of KMC regarding the matter.
