Sindh Counter Terrorism Department round up nine suspected terrorists linked with banned terrorist outfits Al Qaeda and Lashkar-e-Jhagvi in a raid in Karachi on Friday.
Umar Shahid, a senior CTD officer, while talking to local news channel ‘Samaa Tv’ said that terrorists were planning a major attack on Muharram processions in Karachi.
Among those arrested by the CTD include Faiz ur Rehman, Karachi Ameer of Al Qaeda Sub-Continent, and his deputy Naib Mustafa alias Shehzad.
The CTD claimed that they were also involved in the murder of MQM MPA Manzar Imam and 17 other people.
Suicide vest, block bomb, hand grenade, 9MM pistol, explosive devices and laptops were recovered from the possession of the accused.
