The Council of Common Interests (CCI), a constitutional body representing all the federating units of the country, earlier today postponed the population census that was to be held next month for an indefinite period of time
The 28th meeting of the CCI was chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and attended by chief ministers of all the provinces and other members.
Census has been deferred due to non-availability of army and other staff required.
Next date for holding the census would be decided after consultation with provinces in the next meeting of the CCI to be held on March 28.
Census was on top of the agenda of the CCI meeting today.
