In Lincolnshire, Tizi Hodson received unexpected mail from her original job application in 1976, which had been lost for nearly five decades. Hodson had applied for a position as a motorcycle stunt rider but never heard back. The letter, it turned out, had been trapped behind a drawer at a post office for 48 years, according to the BBC.
Despite never receiving a response, Hodson did not let this setback deter her ambitions. She went on to secure a job that allowed her to travel extensively worldwide, embracing a life filled with adventure.
Describing the event as “amazing,” Hodson expressed her long-held curiosity about the lack of response. “I always wondered why I never heard back about the job. Now I know why,” she stated.
Accompanying the long-lost letter was a handwritten note from Staines Post Office, humorously acknowledging the delay: “Late delivery by Staines Post Office. Found behind a drawer [sic]. Only about 50 years late.”
Hodson, who has relocated around 50 times and even moved countries several times over the last 48 years, remains mystified about how the post office managed to track her down. She noted that the return of the letter holds great significance for her after all these years.
Reflecting on the past, Hodson recalled typing the letter in her London apartment almost half a century ago.
