Today, in a special ceremony, Ambassador Rizwan Saeed Sheikh awarded the Sitara-i-Khidmat to U.S. Congressman Alexander N. Green, acknowledging his pivotal role in enhancing Pakistan-US relations.

This award also underlines his efforts to promote Pakistan’s positive image within the U.S. Congress.

Key figures, including Congressman Randy Weber, Rep. Henry Cuellar, former Congressman Nick Lampson, Texas State Representative Suleman Lalani, diplomats, and notable Pakistani-American community members from Texas and the DMV area, attended the ceremony. This event celebrated Congressman Green’s dedication to bilateral ties.

Ambassador Sheikh praised Congressman Green for his crucial contributions to stronger bilateral relations, emphasizing his role in boosting mutual understanding and collaboration.

The Sitara-i-Khidmat, among Pakistan’s highest civilian awards, honours individuals who provide exceptional service to the nation. Congressman Green’s advocacy for robust Pakistan-US relations has significantly influenced political and diplomatic realms.

The Ambassador highlighted Congressman Green’s 2022 visit to Pakistan amid severe floods, noting his solidarity and subsequent advocacy in the U.S. Congress for prompt aid.

Ambassador Sheikh commended Congressman Green for his efforts in humanitarian causes and anti-terrorism. He also praised Green’s backing of significant legislative measures, including the Pakistan Enduring Assistance and Cooperation Enhancement Act of 2009.

Congressman Green thanked Pakistan’s government and the people for this honour.

He also mentioned the long-standing cooperation between the two nations, wanting to further people-to-people relations.

Reflecting on his experiences in Pakistan, Congressman Green emphasized the importance of maintaining strong ties between the peoples of both nations, advocating for unity and continued collaboration.
