US Central Command (Centcom) chief, General Michael Erik Kurilla, met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Syed Asim Munir.
The rendezvous was an essential diplomatic interaction to bolster mutual interests and military cooperation between the United States and Pakistan.
During their conversation, the commanders examined various significant subjects, including matters of mutual interest and the regional security situation. An emphasis was also placed on defence and security collaboration, focusing specifically on military-to-military ties, crucial for the stability and peace of the region.
General Kurilla acknowledged Pakistan’s successes in their battles against terrorism, expressing admiration for their efforts in promoting peace and stability within the region.
Honouring the Martyrs and Visiting the Border
As part of his visit, the US Centcom chief paid homage to the Martyrs of Pakistan in 2022 by laying a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument, a gesture of respect and recognition for those who had fallen.
General Kurilla’s visit also included a trip to Torkham, along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier. Here, he was briefed on counter-terrorism measures and border management mechanisms, helping him gain a more profound understanding of the on-ground realities.
