Twitter appears to be facing a significant crisis, as it has recently implemented stringent technical restrictions for non-premium users, limiting their ability to view tweets daily.
Elon Musk’s new policy is intended to combat “extreme levels of data scraping and system manipulation”. Non-verified users are now only permitted to view up to 1,000 tweets daily, while verified users can access 10,000 before being restricted. However, many find Musk’s reasoning questionable and lacking in genuine justification.
The reason I set a “View Limit” is because we are all Twitter addicts and need to go outside.
I’m doing a good deed for the world here.
Also, that’s another view you just used.

The popular tool Tweetdeck is currently experiencing problems and will be available exclusively to paid subscribers in less than a month. This comes despite the platform now offering even fewer functionalities. There is an increasing sentiment among Twitter users that the platform is slowly pushing them out, which is ironic considering it’s now grappling with the aftermath of disregarding the elements that sustain its existence.
The Downfall of Twitter
This restriction has led to an exodus of users signing up for alternative platforms like Blue Sky or Hive Social, driven by fears of Twitter’s potential demise. The online world has been progressively migrating to more socially progressive applications like Instagram and TikTok, which, unlike Twitter, seem to recognize and adapt to changing trends.
Despite its shortcomings, Twitter has played a significant role in many people’s social lives, including mine. It has been a platform for societal discourse, political activism, and finding niches representing one’s interests and identity. However, with the takeover of Musk and his following, Twitter has undergone detrimental changes, including the introduction of awkward features, promises of paywalls, and an alarming tolerance for hate speech.
In yet another exercise in irony, this post achieved a record view count!

After Musk acquired the company, shortcuts were taken, and layoffs ensued due to overconfidence and hasty cost-cutting. Still, Musk continued to paint a rosy picture of the platform’s future, failing to acknowledge the contractual missteps that led to the acquisition. His mismanagement is causing us to lose a platform many depend on for social interaction and income.
Once a thriving platform, Twitter has deteriorated into a hub highlighting the loudest voices willing to pay for exposure, fostering the spread of misinformation and disinformation. Despite clinging onto hopes of a turnaround, it appears inevitable that Twitter, under its current leadership, is headed for collapse. This potential downfall is disheartening for the dream of a free internet where everyone has an equal opportunity to thrive.
As we brace for the death of Twitter, it’s important to remember that the online world will continue to offer virtual spaces for connection and discourse. While the void left by Twitter may seem enormous, perhaps it’s time for us to explore new social platforms free from the disruptive influence of figures like Elon Musk. In six months, we will see whether users have migrated to platforms like Blue Sky as Twitter continues its downward spiral.
