Being committed to the peace process the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Wednesday refused an extension to the ceasefire the outlawed outfit had announced as a ‘goodwill gesture’ last month.
“The agreed truce had expired on April 10. We held fire for six more days from April 11 to 16, but we cannot stick to it any longer. We cannot extend the ceasefire anymore”, TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid said Wednesday.
TTP had announced a ceasefire at the start of March as the government sought a negotiated end to their bloody seven-year insurgency.
