Donald Trump recently disclosed at a rally in St. Cloud, Minnesota, that he offered Joe Biden $1 million to play him in golf, challenging him to break 100.
Trump told the audience, “I said I will take you to any course you want… I would give you $1 million if you could break 100 in a game of golf,” but Biden declined the offer.
The former President and real estate mogul modified his proposal, adding, “Then I said, I’ll give you ten strokes a side… I’ll give you one million dollars if you could beat me. He had no chance.” He concluded with a critique, “They talk a good game, but it’s all talk.”
During the first presidential debate between Biden and Trump, the topic of golf surfaced prominently. Trump took the opportunity to tout his golfing prowess, highlighting his recent victories in two club championships. He stated, “I just won two club championships—not even senior ones, just regular club championships. To achieve that, you need to be quite smart and able to drive the ball a considerable distance.” Trump then criticized Biden’s golfing abilities, asserting, “He doesn’t have what it takes. He can’t even hit a ball 50 yards. He challenged me to a golf match, but he can’t hit the ball 50 yards.”
In response, Biden suggested a driving contest, mentioning his past as a vice president with a handicap of six, though he later corrected it to eight. Trump dismissed Biden’s claims about his golfing skills, saying, “I’ve seen your swing. I know your swing. Let’s not act like children.”
This exchange highlights the rivalry and banter between the two political figures, which are centred around their golfing prowess and competitive challenges.
