During the first quarter of 2023, about 0.6% of all videos uploaded on TikTok were removed, totalling 91,003,510. Automated systems identified and took down 53,494,911 of these videos, while a further 6,209,835 videos were reinstated after undergoing manual review.
TikTok’s Impact on Pakistan
The report reveals that, in Pakistan, 11,707,020 videos were deleted in the first quarter of 2023 for violating TikTok’s Community Guidelines. This figure shows a reduction compared to the 12,628,267 videos removed in the fourth quarter of 2022 for similar reasons.
TikTok’s efforts were not limited to community guideline violations. The platform proactively fought against spam accounts and related content and implemented measures to hinder the creation of automated spam accounts.
In Q1 2023, a significant 83% of violent videos in Pakistan were eliminated before they reached any views, with 92% removed within a 24-hour. The platform’s proactive removal rate for the quarter stood at 98.8%.
As part of its global strategy, TikTok deleted 16,947,484 accounts suspected to belong to users below 13. Moreover, 51,298,135 fake accounts were deleted during Q1, showcasing the company’s serious efforts in curbing fraudulent activities.
