The Foreign Office appraised the special Anti-Terrorism Court’s (ATC) decision in a case involving last year’s terrorist attack on Chinese engineers working on the Dasu hydropower project.
The ATC sentenced both men to death on 13 counts in the Dasu Hydro Power Project (DHPP) terrorist attack case on Friday.
The court also imposed an Rs40 million fine on the two convicted terrorists and a total of around 800 years in prison, including life sentences.
In response to a question about the verdict in last year’s terrorist attack on Chinese engineers, FO Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that they had taken note of the relevant court’s decision and the details released by the local police.
While specific questions should be directed to the appropriate authorities, the proactive investigation, prosecution, and judgment, in this case, have demonstrated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to counterterrorism,” she added.
The FO spokesperson expressed their heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and reiterated their commitment to the safety and security of Chinese workers, projects, and institutions in Pakistan. She added that hostile forces would never be able to undermine the Pakistan-China all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.
