The Government of Thailand has announced the launch of a new e-visa service, aiming to simplify the travel process for visitors from Pakistan and Afghanistan from January 1, 2025.

The Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad has issued a proclamation detailing Thailand’s e-visa platform. This platform enables foreign nationals in Pakistan and Afghanistan to apply for a Thai visa digitally, eliminating the need to submit their passports and original documents at the embassy.

Thailand Visa Application and Payment Process

Applicants must complete their visa applications online. However, the embassy has not yet enabled online payment facilities. Therefore, applicants must visit the Royal Thai Embassy in Islamabad to complete the payment process. Once the embassy approves the e-visa application, it will send a confirmation email to the applicant. The applicant must print this email and present it at the airline counter at the port of departure and to Thai immigration officials upon arrival in Thailand.

The embassy will continue to accept traditional in-person visa applications until December 24, 2024. This transitional period allows travellers to adjust to the new online system while accommodating those who prefer or need to apply in person.

Eligibility for Applying E-Visa from Pakistan

Applicants must note that the e-visa service is available only to those who are not currently in Thailand and only in countries where the e-visa system is operational.

Thailand’s introduction of the e-visa service for Pakistan and Afghanistan is a significant step forward in facilitating easier access to the country, known for its stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and rich history. By simplifying the visa application process, Thailand aims to attract more tourists from these regions, promising a smoother, more efficient entry experience.
