Faizan Khorasani, a target killer involved in the assassination of police officers, has been apprehended.
During interrogation, Khorasani confessed to his involvement in these crimes, leading to crucial revelations about his plans and associates.
Faizan Khorasani, identified in official records as Muhammad Faizan Butt, son of Fayaz Ahmed Butt, admitted his affiliation with a banned organization that instructed him to assassinate two senior police officers.
Khorasani’s confession came after a coordinated police operation resulted in the arrest of his father and the identification of 14 individuals linked to him. These connections were notably present during a recent police encounter in Bahawalpur, where two terrorists, Asadullah Khorasani and Saifullah Khorasani, were fatally injured by their peers.
During his arrest at his mother’s residence in Alfalah Town, Lahore, police recovered a .30 bore and 9mm pistol, a pen camera, gloves, a shirt, a helmet, and a suicide jacket.
Khorasani, 21, previously incarcerated, disclosed that he had scouted the targeted officers for an hour before his arrest. He also revealed having travelled to Afghanistan twice to meet with leaders of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), seeking to solidify his ties and earn formal membership by proving his capability through these killings.
According to his confessional statement, Khorasani was promised 600,000 rupees for the assassination of six police officers. Upon completing his initial task, he had already planned to target six additional officers. His interactions in prison with Rauf Gujjar, a notable member of the banned organization, led to Gujjar arranging his bail for 1 million rupees to facilitate these missions.
The detailed statement of Muhammad Faizan has been recorded as he awaits further legal proceedings. The case highlights the ongoing challenges and threats faced by law enforcement agencies in Punjab from organized terror groups.
