The Supreme Court of Pakistan has issued strict new guidelines for beat reporters covering the court. These guidelines prohibit recording YouTube programs and interviews within the Supreme Court building.

Restrictions and Security Measures

In a notification, the Supreme Court’s Public Relations Officer, Shahid Hussain Kamboyo, outlined the new measures. Reporters will undergo thorough security checks, including frisking and bag searches. Additionally, media personnel can no longer record video clips, interviews, or YouTube programs inside the Supreme Court Building. The use of cell phones in courtrooms is also prohibited.

For high-profile cases with limited space and increased security, only one journalist from each media house will be granted access. Other journalists can observe the proceedings from alternative courtrooms.
