Elon Musk’s satellite broadband company, Starlink, confirmed that it complies with Brazil’s top court judge, Alexandre de Moraes, order to block access to social media platform X in Brazil.
Starlink announced through a post on X that it has launched legal proceedings in the Brazilian Supreme Court. The company contests the “gross illegality” of Judge Moraes’ order, which has frozen Starlink’s finances and restricted its financial transactions within Brazil.
The company stated on X that despite disagreeing with the legality of the asset freeze, Starlink is adhering to the order to block X in Brazil.
Starlink also mentioned that it is actively pursuing all legal options, supported by others who believe that Judge Moraes’ recent actions contravene the Brazilian constitution.
Starlink initially refused to comply with Moraes’ directive requiring all internet providers to restrict domestic access to X.
This conflict has escalated tensions between Brazil and Musk’s corporate interests, especially after the country’s telecommunications regulator supported the top court’s contentious decision to ban X and threatened sanctions against Starlink.
