Spaniard Sets a New World Record: The Fastest 100 Metres Run in High Heels

In a stunning display of unconventional athleticism, Christian Roberto López Rodríguez, a Spaniard known for his record-breaking endeavors, smashed the previous world record for the fastest 100 meters run in high heels.

Guinness World Records has confirmed that Rodríguez clocked a staggering 12.82 seconds in the challenging race, pushing the boundaries of what was previously believed possible.

Surpassing the Former Champion

Christian Rodríguez’s achievement eclipses the earlier record set by André Ortolf, who completed the 100-meter sprint in 14.02 seconds in 2019. The 34-year-old’s feat is a testament to his exceptional physical prowess and a reflection of his determination and tenacity. As Rodríguez confessed to the Guinness World Records, the preparations required to accomplish such a task were ‘exhaustive and specific,’ highlighting the difficulty and intensity of sprinting in high heels.

Specific Requirements and a Personal Mission

Rodríguez, and others attempting this unique record, had to contend with a demanding set of rules: stiletto heels worn must be at least 7 cm high and no more than 1.5 cm wide at the tip, effectively ruling out the possibility of using platform shoes for the run. Aside from the athletic accomplishment, the record-breaking Spaniard used this opportunity as a platform to raise awareness about Type 1 diabetes. As a person living with the condition, Rodríguez sought to prove that individuals with diabetes can perform “as much or more things than people without diabetes.”

A Serial Record-Breaker with Future Ambitions

The high-heeled run is only the latest in Rodríguez’s impressive record-breaking achievements. His past exploits include holding the records for the longest time balancing a bicycle on the chin, the longest time balancing an object on the nose, and the most consecutive stairs climbed while juggling three objects. Currently, Rodríguez holds 57 Guinness World Records titles and undeterred by his latest achievement, he plans to break even more records in the coming year.
