A soldier was martyred and another injured in a bomb attack in South Waziristan on Monday.
According to sources, a remote-controlled device targeted a vehicle of the security forces when it was on routine patrol.
South Waziristan Agency borders Afghanistan’s Paktika province and has been a hub of militancy.
An operation was launched in 2009 to clear the area of militants. However, sporadic attacks against the security forces still take place.
In 2014, the army launched another operation in the restive North Waziristan Agency following which it, too, was cleared of militants. (PhotoNews / Geo News)
