Torrential downpours have wreaked havoc in different areas of Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan today.

In Peshawar, Budni Canal was flooded following overnight torrential rains due to which Charsadda Road was closed for traffic.

District administration has called in heavy machinery to clean the canal and ease the water flow. A heavy flood torrent in River Kabul swept away 55 boats and damaged nine shops.

Surani area’s land route with other areas was suspended when a bridge at Kurram River was partially damaged after the heavy rains.

Water level is continuously rising in River Jhelum and Neelam River. Neelam Highway and Sudhan Gali in Muzaffargarh were closed for traffic due to landsliding. A woman reportedly drowned in the Neelam River.

Routine life was badly affected in Bagh District due to torrential rains and snowfall. District’s land connection with Lasadna, Haji Heer, Sudhan Gali, Chakar, Muzaffarabad, Haveli and Rawla Court was cut off due to avalanches and landsliding.

Electricity pylons fell down in several areas, suspending power supply to the areas. Around six feet deep snow in Neza Peer and Haji Peer forced people to relocate.

Kalam-Mingora highway was closed due to heavy snowfall in Swat whereas continuous snowfall effected routine life in different areas of Gilgit-Baltistan.
