Following the widespread shock on social media caused by short video clips of Asher Mahesar, son of Deputy Inspector General of Police (East) Azfar Mahesar, engaging in reckless aerial firing, Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon has stepped in, mandating a thorough investigation.

In the widely circulated videos, Asher Mahesar is depicted wielding various firearms, from assault rifles to handguns, discharging them into the sky at multiple venues, occasionally while operating a vehicle.

The Sindh police’s top official directed the Karachi Additional IGP to meticulously probe the incident, stating that any departmental actions would be determined based on the findings of this investigation.

Conversely, DIG East Azfar Mahesar has labelled the videos as deliberate slander against him, defending his son by denying any misconduct.
