Five Customs Intelligence officials and two civilians, including a five-year-old girl, were killed in an ambush by unidentified gunmen in Dera Ismail Khan district on Thursday, according to police reports.
The attack occurred during a routine check by the Customs Intelligence team at Saggo. The officials were suddenly targeted by gunfire from assailants concealed in nearby bushes, leading to the deaths of five officials and two civilians.
A rescue 1122 team transported the victims to the district headquarters hospital. The deceased were identified as Customs Intelligence officials Shahab Ali Khan, Attar Alam, Akbar Zaman, Inayatullah, Muhammad Aslam, and civilians Safatullah and five-year-old Laiba Bibi.
Police investigations revealed that the gunmen had been hiding along Daraban Road. Shell casings were found in the bushes, but the exact number of attackers who managed to flee the scene remains unknown.
