Senator Faisal Vawda has predicted a possible ban on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), highlighting strict punishments vowed for detained PTI workers involved in the Islamabad protest.
Vawda, speaking on ARY News’ program ‘Khabar,’ criticized the orchestration of the events on May 9, suggesting that a peaceful rally in Sangjani could have preserved the party’s dignity.
Vawda expressed his ongoing efforts to protect PTI’s founder, Imran Khan, mentioning a particular woman’s insistence on going to D-Chowk, only to flee later. He claimed that this woman had caused considerable trouble, a sentiment echoed by the entire leadership. He noted that while Ali Amin Gandapur would not face arrest, Bushra Bibi would.
Vawda also voiced concerns over threats to Imran Khan’s life from those close to him, affirming his commitment to safeguarding Khan.

Vawda lamented the divisions within PTI, describing it as fragmented across various groups and lacking visible leadership outside Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He expressed disappointment over the party’s current state, with its founder in jail and others preoccupied with personal interests.
On ARY’s ‘Khabar’, Maryam Riaz Wattoo, sister to Bushra Bibi, revealed that authorities had relocated Bushra Bibi to an undisclosed location in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Maryam shared that she faced significant challenges in contacting her sister, noting that Bushra Bibi’s phone was off and the numbers of her companions were unreachable.
Nevertheless, Maryam succeeded in communicating with Bushra Bibi through her contacts. During their conversation, she discovered that Bushra Bibi had not wanted to leave D-Chowk but had to due to the intense situation, including nearby gunfire. Following their talk, officials moved Bushra Bibi once more. Maryam highlighted her sister’s strong desire to stay at the protest despite facing numerous challenges.
