The Karachi police reported that a security guard, Ahmed Gul, aged 35, shot Saad Ahmed, 24, amid filming a TikTok video near Sereena Mobile Mall in Karachi’s Buffer Zone within Taimooria police station’s jurisdiction.
The guard, arrested near the Sakhi Hassan roundabout, confessed he had never been trained to use a firearm by his employer.
The guard admitted to the police that he had been working for the security company for about eight to nine months but did not know the company’s name. Police noted that Gul is from Waziristan and struggles with Urdu.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear; however, the police investigation indicated that the guard’s lack of training might be a significant factor.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central stated that during initial questioning, Gul claimed Saad was making gestures at him during the recording.
The police have recovered the weapon, a ‘222’, from a private security company and are continuing their investigation.
