The Supreme Court of Pakistan recently strongly condemned a fabricated news report alleging a dispute between the top court judges.
The notice did not point to a specific report; it addressed false claims that an altercation occurred between the Supreme Court judges during an evening walk on April 13, 2023, in the Judges’ Colony Park. This story was widely circulated and highlighted on various social media platforms.
The notice refuted the report in the strongest terms, stating it was “false, mischievous, and malicious” and emphasizing that no such incident occurred.
Nevertheless, the court expressed concern that the fake reporting about the Supreme Court judges is a severe violation of the law and represents an attempt by disgruntled elements to undermine the court’s dignity and the honor of its members.

This false news report added to the perception of division and bitterness among the apex court judges, intensifying amid a series of letters and a judicial note written by Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
In his writings, Justice Isa questioned the conduct of the Supreme Court registrar and deemed a recent decision by a six-judge Supreme Court bench unconstitutional. The ongoing situation has raised concerns about the unity and integrity of the court’s judges.
