Saudi Arabia, UAE and Bahrain have withdrawn their ambassadors from Qatar. This is an extraordinary public split between GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) associates due to fallen out over the role of Islamists in a region in turmoil.  Qatar’s Cabinet  has shown extreme regret and surprise  at the decision by the fellow GCC member. Despite this Doha as not pulled its own envoys and remains committed to GCC’s security and stability.

Saudi Arabia, UAE and Bahrain said this step was taken because Qatar had failed to honor a GCC agreement  which was signed on Nov. 23 not to support  “anyone threatening the security and stability of the GCC whether as groups or individuals – via direct security work or through political influence, and not to support hostile media.”
