Saudi Arabia has launched a new cola called Milaf Cola, using dates instead of traditional sweeteners like corn syrup and cane sugar. Bander Al-Qahtani, CEO of Thurath Al-Madina, introduced the beverage at the Riyadh Date Festival alongside the Saudi agriculture minister, Abdulrahman Al-Fadley.
Milaf Cola utilizes premium dates, a Middle Eastern staple renowned for its nutritional benefits, including fibre, antioxidants, and essential minerals such as magnesium and potassium.
This cola offers a no-added sugar formula, providing a healthier alternative for soda enthusiasts without sacrificing flavour.
Al-Qahtani highlighted, “This cola merges the health benefits of dates with the refreshing qualities of traditional cola, offering a more health-conscious choice for consumers.”
The introduction of Milaf Cola aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader Vision 2030 goals, which focus on promoting local, sustainable products to diversify the economy and foster social and cultural growth.
The company plans to broaden Milaf Cola’s regional and international market reach, aiming to reshape the global perspective of dates beyond a conventional snack.
“We are not stopping at Milaf Cola. We plan to develop a range of products that will transform the global consumption of dates,” stated a company spokesperson.
