A district and sessions court in Islamabad indicted Shahnawaz Amir and his mother, Sameena Shah, in the Sarah Inam Murder case.
Judge Atta Rabbani issued the indictment order after rejecting Sameena’s discharge request. The judge reserved her plea earlier today.
Both defendants have pled not guilty; the court has ordered the prosecution to call witnesses on December 14.
Shahnawaz’s mother pleads for dismissal. The court heard Sameena’s request to be released from the murder case today.
Sameena Shah’s lawyer, Nasir Asghar, informed the court that the police noted in her challan that she was at the crime site but not involved.
Asghar urged the court, “When the prosecution’s case isn’t against her, she should be dismissed. However, the court decided to do this after reviewing the challan.
Shah’s lawyer told the court that when police arrived, she handed over her son.
“The plaintiff insists,” the lawyer added. His client had nothing else against him, he said.
The court adjourned because Sarah’s father’s counsel couldn’t arrive.
The hearing resumed when the attorney came.
When Sarah got to the farmhouse, the victim, both accused, and Sarah had dinner together, the lawyer said. He noted that the police report indicated Sarah’s divorce.
“What happened that night?” inquired the lawyer. Two days before the murder, the couple divorced, and the CCTV cameras stopped working.
The lawyer also said Shah’s attorney said the murder happened around 9 am, but the postmortem suggested otherwise.
“According to their information, even if the incident happened at 9:00 am, the postmortem is stating something else,” the lawyer said.
The lawyer said the cops grabbed the DVR for forensics. Ayaz Amir, who was discharged, reported the crime to the police, he added.
