Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been slapped and manhandled during the Padmavati shoot in Jaipur.
According to ‘India.com’, Karni Sena group led the attack on Sanjay Leela Bhansali for portraying the Rajput princess in a bad light.
The shocking incident took place when members of the Rajput Karni Sena vandalized the sets of Padmavati at the Jaigarh Fort.
Karni Seena group was upset with the film’s director over showing the love story between Rani Padmini and Muslim ruler Alauddin Khilji, the roles played by Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. The Rajput Karni Sena has demanded that Sanjay Leela Bhansali deletes such scenes in the film if any. “We had warned the filmmaker against presenting wrong facts. When we came to know about the shooting, we gathered there and protested,” said a leader of the group, Narayan Singh.
Another Karni Sena group member, Lokendra Singh Kalvi was quoted speaking to CNN News18: “Haven’t seen the script… But we came to know about the story in a newspaper interview of actor Ranveer Singh, where he said that Deepika Padukone and he share an intimate scene in the film, which is against historical facts.”
Meanwhile, Bhansali Productions CEO Shobha Sant has assured that no damage had been caused. Sant said,”It was the act of ‘typical miscreants’. The matter is under control now after the Commissioner of Police visited the unit. No damage has been caused to the set. We were shooting on location in Jaipur, not on a set. The incident lasted a few minutes. It was sorted after police intervened.”
The Jaipur police has been quoted by the Press Trust of India as saying that Mr Bhansali has decided to stop filming in the area. “The filmmakers have assured that they will not shoot here and will pack up,” senior police officer Anshuman Bhomia told PTI. (PhotoNews/India.com)
